Raymond Clifford Bergren, of Kensington, husband of Jane (Michonski) Bergren, died Friday afternoon (January 25, 2002). Born in New Britain, the son of the late Charles and the late Martha (Olson) Bergren, he attended local schools, served in the US Army in WWII attaining the rank of Sergeant in the 88th Infantry Division known as The Blue Devils who landed in North Africa and fought through Sicily and Rome to the Brenner Pass, and was employed at The Stanley Works for some thirty-seven years until his retirement. He was a member of Kensington Congregational Church, V.F.W. Post 511, and the Svea Social Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Donna Bergren, and Harvey Bergren, all of Berlin, a sister, Millie Weeks in California, a brother, Charles Bergren of Plainville, two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Capita and Margie Glynn, and a brother, Howard Bergren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday (January 29, 2002) at 10:30am at Kensington Congregational Church on Percival Avenue in Kensington. Burial with military honors will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Porter?s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, on Monday (January 28, 2002) from 5-7pm.
