Filipek, Jacob Joseph Jr. - March 21, 2007


BERLIN - Jacob Joseph Filipek Jr., 83, of Madison Drive, the husband of Helen (Blachuta) Filipek, died Wednesday morning (March 21, 2007) at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Jacob J. Filipek Sr. and the late Sophia (Wozianek) Filipek, he attended E.C. Goodwin Technical School, and retired from New Britain Machine Company after 43 years. He was a member of St. Paul Church, Knights of Columbus Monsignor Greylish Council, the Polish Falcon Society, the Berlin Seniors, and was an avid bowler. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jacob E. Filipek Sr. of Middlefield, two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith Filipek-Rittaler and her husband Bill of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Marianne Filipek-Lowry and her husband Toby of Berlin, two brothers, Joseph and Henry Filipek, both of New Britain, two grandsons, Jacob E. Filipek Jr. and Thomas Anthony Filipek, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday (March 24, 2007) at 9am from Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul Church on Alling Street. Burial in St. Stanislaw Cemetery, Meriden, will be at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday (March 23, 2007) from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, 1 Union Street, Suite 301, Robbinsville, New Jersey 08691-4183.
