Fazzio, Albert J. - July 26, 2016


Albert Joseph Fazzio, 89, of Meriden, widower of Virginia Fazzio, died peacefully at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center in Plantsville on Tuesday July 26, 2016. Born in Meriden, the son of the late Vincent and Rose (Garofalo) Fazzio, he was a self-employed Barber for thirty years, before becoming a Barber at the Veteran’s Home and Hospital in Rocky Hill. He was also Police and Fire Commissioner of Meriden (1977-1979), and active in his community, serveing as Alderman for Meriden, Human Rights Commissioner, and on the 911 Emergency Committee. A veteran of WWII, Albert served our country in in the US Army Constabulary-OB observer, Field Artillery. A beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, he is survived by three sons; Richard Fazzio in New Nampshire, Robert Fazzio of Meriden, and Vincent Fazzio in Virginia, five grandchildren, Nicole Katz, and Christopher, Melissa, Amanda , and Nicholas Fazzio, three great-grandchildren, Benjamin Katz, Kaydence and Kendall Fazzio, and four brothers, Carmen, Frank, Joseph, and Michael Fazzio. He is predeceased by a brother, Louis Fazzio. A family graveside service was held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden.
